Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup Finals Tickets Are Averaging $1,041.36 on the Secondary Market

Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup Finals Tickets Are Averaging $1,041.36 on the Secondary Market - It’s been ten long years since the Tampa Bay Lightning hoisted the Stanley Cup back in 2004. After defeating the New York Rangers on Friday night, they’ll finally get a chance to do it again this year.

The Lightning will take on the winner of Saturday night’s Western Conference Finals game 7, pitting the Chicago Blackhawks against the Anaheim Ducks. While it’s clear that the ticker resellers were definitely hoping for a Blackhawks/Rangers finals, early indications are that they can still make out well with a Chicago victory tonight. An Anaheim victory on the other hand would create a Stanley Cup Finals between two of the smallest American markets in the NHL. This could potentially result in one of the lowest priced secondary market series averages in recent history.

Currently, Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup tickets on the secondary market for games at home are listed at an average of $1,130.25. However, this figure is propped up by the prospect of a potential game 7 in Tampa, should the Chicago Blackhawks win the West and subsequently give the Lightning home ice for the finals. If Anaheim takes out Chicago and retains home ice, the three Tampa home games in the finals would carry a significantly lower average of $988. Given that Stanley Cup Finals tickets on the secondary market tend to exhibit a downward trend as game time approaches, this could dip even lower in the coming days depending on who wins the West.

Out in the West, Blackhawks Stanley Cup Finals tickets are currently averaging $1,647.13 on the secondary market, while Ducks Stanley Cup Finals tickets check in at $1,280.64. After adjusting for home ice in each potential matchup, this brings the overall Stanley Cup Finals average to $1,388.69 if the Blackhawks are to win the West, or $1,061.41 if Anaheim emerges victorious. The latter figure would result in the second lowest priced Stanley Cup Finals of the past five years, and could very well surpass the $994.38 figure of 2012 as the market shakes out.

Undoubtedly, ticket resellers are hoping that Chicago knocks off Anaheim. Chicago has had one of the highest average ticket prices on the secondary market throughout the season, and if the Blackhawks are to head back to the Stanley Cup Finals for the third time in the past seven years, ticket prices would be nearly exactly in line with their last appearance two years ago against the Bruins in which the six game series carried an average ticket price of $1,385.35 on the secondary market.

While a Blackhawks win would serve to boost Stanley Cup Finals ticket prices handsomely, they still won’t approach last year’s average of $1,573.06, which was the highest such figure since TiqIQ began tracking the market. Interestingly enough, the Los Angeles Kings were involved in both the highest priced and lowest priced finals of the past five years. Fittingly, the differentiating factor between those two appearances was the presence of the New York Rangers as their opponent last season.
